The Rowing Club at Michigan Tech is holding a naming auction for our newly purchased boat, currently named the Wake. Our club is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and entirely student-run organization that relies on support from the community, university, and families to run practices, compete in out-of-state competitions, and allow our 50+ yearly members to experience the sport of rowing at a cost that is affordable to them. Purchasing a boat is a multi-year investment for our club.
Boat names hold special meaning. Many of our current boats are named after generous donors who have either substantially supported the club in some manner or donated funds to purchase a boat. We would like the opportunity to name the Wake to go to a generous donor who wants to help support our future necessary equipment purchases and mission to make rowing safe, accessible, and fun for all students at Michigan Tech. While boats are typically named after specific people, you may also get creative in your choice, such as a reference to your business, the local geography, or MTU culture.
Your decision to donate helps to support the legacy of our club and the presence of rowing at Michigan Tech and the Keweenaw Peninsula. Thank you for your consideration!
